Reason for Boycott
Bolton Group, the owner of the UHU brand, was founded in Milan in 1949 by Joseph Nissim. The company is privately owned and managed by the Nissim family. The founder Joseph Nissim, along with the foundation chaired by the current executive Marina Nissim, has provided direct financial support to medical research institutes in Israel. Specifically, the "Jeanne and Joseph Nissim Center for Life Sciences Research" operates within the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel, funded directly by the family. Because Bolton Group is a privately held family business, commercial profits from UHU sales merge directly with the wealth of the family that makes massive donations to Israel's scientific infrastructure. Revenue from UHU purchases flows into the same treasury that directly funds an Israeli research institute, placing the brand firmly in the "Strict Boycott" status.
