Reason for Boycott

Slazenger is a British sportswear and sporting equipment brand owned by Frasers Group. Mike Ashley controls approximately 73.7% of Frasers Group, while the disclosed holdings of BlackRock and Vanguard are individually below 1% and do not constitute controlling stakes. Therefore, Slazenger does not meet the “high-risk global fund control” criterion. No verified evidence was identified showing that Slazenger supplies weapons, surveillance technology, military equipment or logistical support to the Israeli military or government. No verified international report was found establishing Slazenger’s involvement in forced labor, concentration camps or child labor. Slazenger was also not identified as operating branches, factories, infrastructure projects or natural-resource activities in illegal Israeli settlements. The brand does not appear among the reviewed BDS priority targets or in the 2025 UN database of businesses involved in specified settlement-related activities. Slazenger therefore does not meet the criteria for “Strict Boycott.” However, Slazenger’s commercial presence in Israel is not limited to isolated resale or unauthorized parallel imports. Israel-based Inter Mutagim explicitly identifies itself as the official and exclusive Israeli importer of Slazenger bags, luggage and travel accessories. Wide ranges of Slazenger products are also sold in Israeli shekels through local retailers such as Alter and Bag Store. This supports the existence of an organized and continuing commercial distribution network in Israel. Official import and retail activity in Israel does not, by itself, establish direct complicity in occupation policies, military operations or illegal settlements. Therefore, classifying Slazenger as “Strict Boycott” would exceed the verified evidence. Nevertheless, the brand does not fully meet the “Purchasable” standard either, since that category requires an ethical supply and commercial structure without business relations involving occupying or human-rights-abusing regimes. In Türkiye, Slazenger footwear and textile products are manufactured and sold under licence by SporPark. However, the brand remains owned by Frasers Group, which means local production is not entirely independent from the global trademark owner. The licence terms and royalty rates are not publicly available, so no specific royalty amount should be claimed. Based on the verified evidence, Slazenger should be classified as“Conscience-Based / Discretionary.” The brand has a documented official commercial distribution relationship in Israel, but no verified direct military, technological, financial or settlement-related complicity.
