Reason for Boycott
No verified evidence was found showing that Mizuno supplies weapons, surveillance technology, military equipment or logistical support to the Israeli military; operates stores, factories or infrastructure in illegal settlements; publishes messages supporting occupation policies; or directly supports oppressive structures operating in Palestine, East Turkestan, Kashmir, Arakan, Syria, Yemen or Sudan. Mizuno was not identified among the reviewed official BDS priority targets. The company states that it prohibits forced labor and child labor, has conducted supplier audits since 2004 and adopted a group-wide human-rights policy in 2023. No substantiated company-specific use of detention-camp labor or systematic child labor was identified. Mizuno therefore does not meet the criteria for Strict Boycott. However, Mizuno’s commercial presence in Israel is not limited to unauthorized resale or isolated parallel imports. Mizuno maintains official Israel-specific country and sales pages under its own corporate domain, where footwear, apparel and sporting equipment are marketed for the Israeli market. Available records also identify MGS Sport Trading as a local distributor, while multiple Israeli retailers sell broad ranges of Mizuno products. An official Israeli market does not by itself establish direct complicity in war crimes, but it prevents Mizuno from meeting BYKT’s clean-alternative standard requiring no commercial relationship with an occupying regime. Mizuno should therefore be classified as Conscience-Based / Discretionary, rather than Strict Boycott or fully Purchasable.
