Reason for Boycott
HOP is a Türkiye-based shared-mobility company providing electric scooter and bicycle rental services. The company has reported operations in Türkiye, Greece and Montenegro, reaching more than 20 cities and over 2.5 million users by 2025. No verified evidence was found showing that HOP supplies weapons, surveillance systems, vehicles or logistical support to Israel, China, India, Myanmar, Russia or another oppressive state apparatus. No verified involvement was identified in Palestine, East Turkestan, Kashmir, Arakan, Syria, Yemen, Sudan or another occupied or conflict-affected region. HOP therefore does not meet the criteria for Strict Boycott. However, HOP has disclosed a long-term strategic relationship with Mastercard and uses Mastercard’s Masterpass payment infrastructure. The company also does not publicly identify the manufacturers or countries of origin of its vehicles, battery cells and principal electronic components. As a result, forced-labor risks connected to China and East Turkestan cannot be fully excluded at supplier level, although no direct violation attributable to HOP has been established. Its local ownership is positive, but dependence on a disputed global payment provider and limited hardware-supply-chain transparency prevent classification as a fully clean alternative. HOP should therefore be classified as Conscience-Based / Discretionary.
